Miranda Joy Summers is a multi-disciplinary artist born in Melbourne and raised in Sussex, England, with a background in both art and theatre production. She worked as a Theatre Prop Maker for London’s West End, Opera Houses and Television before moving to Sydney and pursuing a career with Opera Australia. Alongside her theatre career, Miranda is a passionate oil painter exhibiting with several galleries in Australia, showcasing her unique and distinctive style inspired by the Australian landscape. 2025 she made her solo debut with Michael Reid Gallery in Southern Highland. In 2024 Miranda made her first solo exhibition debut with Grainger Gallery, Canberra ACT and in 2023, her first international artistic debut at The Brick Lane Gallery London UK.

Miranda has Assisted the Direction for the Operatic World Premiere of Brett Whiteley 2019, Graeme Murphy’s Turandot, David McVicar’s Don Giovanni, Francesca Zambello’s La Traviata, Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, HOSH 2020, Harry Kupfer’s Otello 2022 for OA & Director Otello for West Australian Opera 2023, AD Opera Australia’s The Ring Cycle 2023, AD Breaking The Waves, Director Puccini Gala, Hamer Hall, Melbourne for Opera Australia 2024, New Production of Bizet’s Carmen, Sydney Opera House 2025.

Miranda lives and has a studio in North Sydney, Australia, her artistic approach combines Impressionism with Contemporary Landscape Painting. Miranda paints on canvas with oil and painting knife. Her artistic approach utilises negative and positive space to create an interplay between foreground and perceived distance. The challenge is to simplify the mark, reduce spatial distance and invite the viewer to engage with the present moment. A finalist in the The Hornsby Art Prize, The Little Things Art Prize in 2022 and Amber Creswell Bell Selects 2023.
